Retail Insider Zoom Cocktail Hour event – May’s guest speaker announced

Retail Insider is pleased to announce that the next Zoom Cocktail Hour event will take place in May and feature Simon Palethorpe, president of Carnival UK as guest speaker.

All of our guest speakers tell their own interesting story that will undoubtedly throw some fresh insights and perspectives on the broader retail industry. As well as covering the impact of Covid-19 on their businesses they will outline their future plans.

One of the unique aspects of these Cocktail Hours is their interactive nature and so there will be plenty of time for attendees to contribute their own thoughts and experiences and to also take part in the Q&A which is chaired and hosted by Retail Insider editor Glynn Davis.

Simon Palethorpe, president, Carnival UK (P&O Cruises & Cunard)

These have been troubled times for retailers but things have been arguably even tougher for the cruise industry. This Zoom event provides a fascinating opportunity to hear from Simon who heads up the UK division of one of the world’s largest cruise businesses, Carnival Corporation, with responsibility for P&O Cruises and Cunard Line.

Simon’s insights into how Carnival UK has dealt with Covid-19 and is building for the future will provide some valuable learnings for retailers and those in the leisure and hospitality industry. He will be able to talk from a unique perspective as he previously spent a number of years in the retail industry.

Prior to joining Carnival Corporation he spent time investing and advising a variety of start-ups and young businesses. Before that he held senior positions at Avis Europe, Buy.com and John Lewis. These earlier roles gave him first-hand experience of digital as it was during the early days of the internet.

By drawing on these varied experiences Simon will provide an opportunity for attendees to take-away some great insights that will undoubtedly help them throw a new light on their own thinking.
