Retail Insider event with Jo Jenkins, CEO of White Stuff, and Alex Murray, digital director, Lidl UK

Retail Insider held its latest event with guest speakers Jo Jenkins, CEO of White Stuff, and Alex Murray, digital director of Lidl UK who helped celebrate the launch of the ‘Movers & Shakers in Retail Top 100 Report 2019’.

Attendees of the event at Bedale’s Wine shop in London’s Smithfield Market included senior executives from Marks & Spencer, Heal’s, Tesco, Oasis, and Charles Tyrwhitt who heard how both Murray and Jenkins are in the midst of important digital initiatives.

Jenkins recalled earlier experiences at Marks & Spencer and Next that she has brought to White Stuff where she is undertaking a major rejuvenation of the business with the objective of transforming it into a multi-channel operation.

Murray detailed how his time at Berry Bros & Rudd, Waitrose and Game Group have been informative to the work he is now involved with at Lidl where he is exploring opportunities for initiating digital activity.

Both Jenkins and Murray explored themes around delivery, returns, the challenge of technology system implementations, recruitment, and the necessity to disrupt your own organisation before somebody else does.

The evening concluded with a tutored wine tasting of some lesser known wine varieties from the stocks at Bedale’s.

Retail Insider would like to thank Jo Jenkins and Alex Murray for providing some great insights on the night as well as K3 for sponsorship of the Movers & Shakers report and the evening’s supporters PCMS Group, Bold360 and HI Executive Consulting.
