Retail Insider celebrated the launch of the second ‘Digital Leisure & Hospitality Innovations Top 20’ report at an evening event with guest speaker Rohan Pradhan, COO of Deliveroo.
The report, sponsored by Webloyalty, recognises the top 20 leisure and hospitality digital initiatives of the last year and draws attention to a number of industry trends including artificial intelligence (AI), payments, robotics and sustainability.
Topping the rankings is food waste app Karma, which highlights how reducing waste has risen rapidly up the agenda for food service companies. This was one of many topics discussed by guests at the launch dinner in the private dining room at Michelin-starred Pied a Terre restaurant in Central London.
As Rohan detailed the development of Deliveroo and its virtual Editions kitchens this initiated a wide-ranging discussion around the table that encompassed the growth of technology in the hospitality industry, the inexorable rise of food delivery, and how delivery is impacting the role of restaurants and pubs as well as broader society.
The guests at the dinner included senior executives from Harvey Nichols, Amazon, Pret A Manger and Waitrose as well members of the advisory panel which included: Danny Potter of Inamo Restaurant Group; Jonathon Swaine of Fuller’s and Andrew Ellis of McDonald’s.
Retail Insider would like to thank Webloyalty for its sponsorship of the report and for making the launch evening possible. Appreciation is also extended to Rohan for his insights on the night.
