Retail Insider Movers & Shakers 2021 report launch event
Retail Insider held its latest event with guest speakers Charlotte Morley, founder of The Little Loop, and Freddie Blackett, founder of Patch Plants, who helped celebrate the launch of the ‘Movers & Shakers in Retail Top 80 Report 2021’, sponsored by WonderLane.
Attendees of the event at Mercato Metropolitano in central London included senior executives from John Lewis, Amazon, Hotel Chocolat, Heal’s and Missguided who heard how both Morley and Blackett have built their online-only businesses to disrupt the incumbents.
Morley highlighted how she took learnings from her previous role at NotOnTheHighStreet to create a circular economy business involving children’s clothing that was lacking a professional platform for exchanging products in the category.
It was a similar story with Blackett who found the market was lacking a player fulfilling the demands of younger home owners and renters with limited knowledge of plants. He has built the business to incorporate both house and outdoor plants as well as their containers.
Both these individuals are celebrated in this year’s Movers & Shakers report that includes the top 80 digitally progressive retailers who are having a major impact on the industry.
The evening also included a guided tour of the Mercato Metropolitan site with MD Amedeo Claris and concluded with a tutored wine tasting of a selected flight of top Italian wines with sommelier Ernesto Angulo.
Retail Insider would like to thank Charlotte Morley and Freddie Blackett for providing some great insights on the night as well as Trust Systems for sponsorship of the evening and HI Executive Consulting for its drinks sponsorship.
Another thank-you goes to WonderLane for sponsorship of the Movers & Shakers report as well as CreativeOates and Privacy Cookies for the creation and printing of the report.
