Retail Insider held its latest event with guest speaker Andy Harding, CEO at NiX by Nicola Harding and MD at NH&Co., at Hedonism Wines in London’s Mayfair followed by a tutored tasting of wines.
The event sponsored by BetterCommerce involved senior executives from Jigsaw, Ribble Cycles, Henderson Design Group, Heal’s and Stuart Trevor hearing Andy tell the story behind the creation of an interior design business and how it has branched out into launching an in-house range of furniture and home-wares products under the NiX by Nicola Harding brand.
He highlighted how his previous experience heading up e-commerce and digital operations at retailers including House of Fraser, Arcadia, Alamy and Carphone Warehouse is currently helping him determine the approach he is taking to the implementation of systems and technology.
Andy discussed the challenges of having B2B and B2C operations operating alongside each other and knitting these various channels together. There is also the added complexity of NiX by Nicola Harding working directly with manufacturers, which presents many supply chain challenges encompassing provenance, costs, lead-times, quality control and inventory management.
He also revealed how the brand has recently launched in the US and recognises the appeal of a British brand to American consumers represents a major opportunity for the company.
The evening also included a tutored wine tasting hosted by one of the expert Hedonism sommeliers involving a number of flights of wines on the theme of France vs Italy.
